Volunteers of America Greater New Orleans – in collaboration with 20 other local nonprofits – hosted a Volunteer Information Fair on February 17, 2017, to educate prospective volunteers about opportunities in the Slidell/Lacombe area. Attendees learned how they can help address important community needs, including the requirements, commitments and registration processes necessary to volunteer with participating organizations.

Nonprofits represented at the event included CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), COAST (Council on Aging St. Tammany), Community Christian Concern, East St. Tammany Habitat for Humanity, Epworth Project and Northshore Disaster Recovery, Family Promise, Hospice House – Hospice Foundation of the South, Ochsner Medical Center – North Shore & Golden Opportunities, S.A.L.T. (Seniors and Law Enforcement Together), Senior Medicare Patrol, Slidell Memorial Hospital, U.S. Fish and Wildlife, We Heart Veterans and Volunteers of America Greater New Orleans RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program)

These organizations address essential community needs, providing aid to senior citizens, homeless families, veterans and their families, and children within the community. They also promote environmental education and methods for making a tangible difference in the community.
