Volunteering To Help Those In Need
When Volunteers of America was founded in 1896, volunteering had a different meaning than it does today. In that time, volunteering to serve others was a full-time commitment. That’s why our founders came to call themselves Volunteers of America. They volunteered their whole lives—their hearts, spirits and professional careers to help people in need. Today, Volunteers of America’s staff of paid professionals adopts this same ideal of service. Yet, we also greatly depend on volunteers who dedicate their free time and talents to support our programs.
COVID-19 Volunteer Guidelines
As we all continue to navigate through the COVID-19 pandemic, Volunteers of America Southeast Louisiana has put together a plan for our organization to return to business but continue to be compliant with CDC, EEOC, city, state and federal guidelines. Volunteers provide services that are crucial and highly valued in our organization and we want to ensure we continue our efforts to minimize the spread of respiratory illness, including COVID-19 to our volunteers, staff and clients.
Here are the guidelines all our volunteers should follow while engaging in activities at any of our VOASELA facilities.
- Must wear a face mask or covering that covers the nose and mouth.
- Must have your temperature taken upon entering a VOASELA facility.
- Must complete COVID-19 screening questions upon arrival.
- Must practice safe social distancing.
- Must comply with all current city and state regulations.
- Agree to serve at your own risk and not hold VOASELA liable if you get sick after volunteering.
- Agree to not serve if you are feeling unwell or have knowingly come in contact with a person infected with COVID-19 in the last 14 days.
- Provide proof of COVID-19 vaccine prior to first day of volunteering (NOT REQUIRED BUT APPRECIATED).
