Home repairs can be challenging to low-income residents and persons with disabilities. Yet neglecting such repairs can make it hazardous for them to remain in their own home. The staff at Repairs on Wheels identifies the need for repairs or modifications, performs safety reviews and educates residents about home safety. The team develops a plan for repairs and modifications that best suits the homeowner's needs.

Minor home repairs could include fixing locks, carpentry, plumbing, window work and other small jobs. Small modifications, such as adding hand rails, may also be performed to make it easier to move about. For those who can no longer get in and out of their home without assistance, wheelchair-accessible ramps are also available. There is no charge for repairs. The program serves low-income homeowners and persons with disabilities in Jefferson, St. Charles, St. Tammany and St. John parishes as well as the City of Kenner. Income levels must be verified to qualify, and only homeowners are eligible.
