    Volunteers of America Fresh Food Factor program is seeking formal competitive bids from janitorial supply vendors for paper, packaging, and cleaning supplies that will enable Fresh Food Factor to maintain a high level of housekeeping standards in its central kitchen and schools that participate in the National School Lunch Program, Summer Food Service Program and the Child and Adult Care Food Program using United States Department of Agriculture funding.     Luncheon Recognizes Senior Volunteers for Community Service

    In celebration of National Volunteer month, Volunteers of America Southeast Louisiana’s RSVP volunteers gathered for an annual recognition luncheon celebrating more than 38,000 hours of community service in 2018. The RSVP luncheon was held at the Fleur de Lis Event Center in Mandeville on Saturday, April 6. The Volunteers of America Southeast Louisiana RSVP volunteers are a select group of volunteers 55 years of age and older who use their time, skills, and life experiences to help meet critical needs across St. Tammany Parish.

    Veterans Corps Pinning Ceremony Held in Mandeville

    Volunteers of American Southeast Louisiana recently hosted a special Veterans Corps Pinning Ceremony and breakfast to honor senior citizens who are military veterans in its Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP). The ceremony was held at the Windsor Senior Living Community in Mandeville. There are currently 49 members in the Veterans Corps, with an additional 8 additional members added this year.

    Volunteers of America Southeast Louisiana Renames Veterans Pavilion to Honor Oscar J. Tolmas

    Supporters and affiliates of Volunteers of America Southeast Louisiana gathered on Tuesday, November 13, to commemorate Veterans Day and rename the Veterans Transitional Housing Facility in honor of Oscar J. Tolmas, a lifelong resident of New Orleans and WWII veteran. A $1 million donation from the Oscar J. Tolmas Charitable Trust is making it possible for Volunteers of America Southeast Louisiana to continue to provide — and enhance — critical services to vulnerable veterans in the New Orleans community for years to come.

    Carousel Party Hosted for National Adoption Month

    In celebration of National Adoption Month, Volunteers of America Southeast Louisiana hosted its annual Carousel Party from 9:30 – 11 AM on Saturday, November 10. Dozens of families brought together through Volunteers of America’s Adoption Program enjoyed carousel rides in the New Orleans City Park Carousel Gardens and celebrated their unique families.

    On Sept. 11, more than 20 seniors from Volunteers of America Southeast Louisiana’s Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) visited the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Slidell to place more than 1,600 flags on the graves of our fallen heroes.

    ​Rubye Noble and Voris Vigee Named to Volunteers of America’s National Board of Directors

    Volunteers of America, one of the nation’s oldest and largest human service nonprofits, has named New Orleans-area attorney and healthcare advocate Rubye Noble to a two-year term as chair of its national board of directors, effective July 1, 2018. The organization has also named southeast Louisiana nonprofit executive and community leader Voris Vigee to a two-year term on its national board, effective July 1, 2018.
